We have only lived in the Pacific Northwest for a couple of years, so there are still so many places that we need to visit.

Friday the kids had a day off from school, so we decided to go to Mt. Rainier.

We are lucky enough to see Mt. Rainier everyday.
It is in the background of our little harbor town.

Getting to be on the mountain and see it up close
was a totally different thing though.

When we left in the morning, it was kind of cloudy and foggy.
When we got up to the Paradise area, at an elevation of 5400 feet, it was so foggy that we couldn't see the top part of the mountain.

About 10 minutes later, the skies cleared and the sun came out.
As you can see from the photos, it is lots of gorgeousity.
Mt. Rainier is a volcano, and the fifth highest peak in the U.S.
If you are ever in the Seattle area, it is really worth the trip!
