  1. I love how you can still see the beautiful woodgrain through her paintjob. It must have taken so much patience and measuring to get those lines so perfectly straight!

  4. I love painted floors. I don't think I could do it on nice hardwood, but if i had an older home with not so nice looking wood floors I'd paint them in a heartbeat.

  5. Oh my gosh I've been wanting to do this for so long but I honestly just have no clue how to do it. I'm way too scared to do it and then have it chip on me or something. Do you know how she made it look so awesome!?

  8. I'm a huge fan of painted floors! I want the next home I buy to have floors that need work - that way I can paint them and not feel bad (our current floors are brazilian cherry so I guess I won't have this painted look for a while!)
Have fun with the tree cleanup - we've had SO many trees fall over the past 2 years - we seem to get hit with some pretty severe winds - luckily my guy loves playing lumberjack! :)

  9. Loretta,
My hubby (a computer engineer) adapted some presentation software for me so that I could make the posts like this.

    Sarah,
The article says that she began with a centered "rug." She masked off one rectangle and a few stripes, keeping the original oak as the faux rug's border and accents. Then she painted the floor white, taped off stripes, added six colors, and finished with a sealer.
